From Tradition to the Living Word — Finding Our Unity in Christ Alone

Greeting

Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ,

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

We write not to condemn, but to invite you to behold again the beauty and sufficiency of Jesus Christ — our Savior, Lord, and only Mediator. Our desire is simple: that all who call His name would stand together on the unshakable foundation of His Word.

"Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith."
— Hebrews 12 :2

Christ Above All

Unity is not found in an institution, but in a Person — the Son of God who gave Himself for us.

When Christ is first, humility, truth, and love flourish among His people.

No title, office, or ceremony can replace His living presence or His headship over His Church.

"That in everything He might have the supremacy."
— Colossians 1 :18

Christ is not divided; He is the same yesterday, today, and forever — Hebrews 13 :8. Let us measure everything we believe by the words He spoke, and by the witness of His apostles who walked with Him.

Scripture & Authority

The Holy Scriptures are not one voice among many — they are the breath of God.

Every word of God is pure, inspired, and sufficient to make us wise unto salvation.

"All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable… so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
— 2 Timothy 3 :16–17

The Word of God is not bound by councils or traditions. It is the living voice of the Spirit to all generations.

Tradition can be valuable, but when it adds to or replaces the Word, it becomes a snare.

"You nullify the word of God by your tradition."
— Mark 7 :13

Foundation, Not Tradition

Jesus called us to test all things, not blindly inherit them.

"By their fruit you will recognize them."
— Matthew 7 :16

Action: Examine your church's doctrines in the light of Scripture — not history, not emotion.

Ask: Did Jesus or His apostles teach these things?

  • Papal infallibility
  • Prayers to Mary and the saints
  • The Mass as a re-sacrifice of Christ
  • Purgatory

If any teaching cannot be confirmed by the Word of God, it cannot be from Him. The true foundation is Christ Himself, not the stones of a cathedral.

"Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock."
— Matthew 7 :24

One Mediator — Christ Alone

"For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus."
— 1 Timothy 2 :5

No saint or angel shares His role. To pray through Mary or the saints, even if the motive is sincere, shifts our eyes from the One who died and rose for us.

Action: Bring your prayers directly to the Father, in the name of Jesus.

He opened the way to the Father — not through rituals, but through His own blood.

"Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence."
— Hebrews 4 :16

Christ Has No Earthly Representative

Jesus never appointed one man as His earthly head.

He alone is the Chief Shepherd; His Spirit unites and leads His flock.

"Do not call anyone on earth 'father,' for you have one Father, and He is in heaven."
— Matthew 23 :9

Action: Respect all who serve Christ, but reserve the place of Lordship for Christ alone.

The Pope cannot claim to act in Christ's place, for the living Christ Himself is present with His people.

"I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
— Matthew 28 :20

Salvation — By Grace Through Faith

The gospel is not earned by ritual but received by faith.

No ceremony can add to the finished work of the cross.

"It is by grace you have been saved, through faith… not by works."
— Ephesians 2 :8–9

Action: Be baptized for the forgiveness of sins and new life in Christ.

Receive communion in remembrance of His once-for-all sacrifice.

Confess your sins directly to God, for only He forgives.

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us."
— 1 John 1 :9

The Cross — Once for All

The sacrifice of Jesus is complete. The Mass, when presented as a continual sacrifice, denies the full power of the blood He shed.

"We have been made holy through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all."
— Hebrews 10 :10

Action: Remember His death with thanksgiving, but never believe His blood must be offered again.

The blood that saves was shed once — and that is enough forever.

"It is finished."
— John 19 :30

Freedom from Purgatory and Fear

Fear binds where truth should free. Purgatory and prayers for the dead are not taught in Scripture.

Christ's blood cleanses completely — not partly, not after death.

"There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."
— Romans 8 :1

Action: Trust fully in what Jesus accomplished. His blood has made the way open for all who belong to Him.

"Having confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus."
— Hebrews 10 :19

Walk in Truth, Remain in Love

Faith sometimes calls us to stand apart from what is false, yet never apart from love.

Truth must be spoken with grace, and love must be shown with patience.

"The Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil."
— 2 Timothy 2 :24

Worship in Spirit and Truth

Worship is not about places, robes, or rituals — it is about the heart.

"The true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth."
— John 4 :23

Action: Pray to the Father in Jesus' name. Read His Word daily. Walk by His Spirit.

You are the temple of God; He dwells within you.

"Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit."
— 1 Corinthians 6 :19

The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit

The Scriptures reveal one God, the Father — the source of all things.

And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things were created and through whom we live (1 Corinthians 8 :6).

Jesus Christ, the Son, came forth from the Father. The Father alone is without origin; the Son has His origin in the Father.

Everything was made through Him and for Him, and in Him all things hold together (Colossians 1 :16–17).

Before the world began, the "Word was with God" (John 1 :1–3).

He is called the only begotten (monogenēs) Son — the one who came from the Father to make Him known.

"No one has ever seen God; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has made Him known."
— John 1 :18

Jesus said:

"I came forth from the Father and have come into the world; again, I am leaving the world and going to the Father."
— John 16 :28

The Bible does not explain how the Son was begotten — only that He is uniquely from God.

Angels are called "sons of God," yet only Jesus is begotten of God and shares His divine nature (Job 1 :6; Hebrews 1 :5).

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, sent from the Father through the Son to dwell in believers (John 14 :26; 15 :26; 16 :13–14).

We must hold fast to what is written and not go beyond the Scriptures.

The Bible never teaches that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are co-equal persons.

The Father is greater in position — the source and head of Christ — while the Son is one with Him in nature, will, and purpose.

"The head of Christ is God."
— 1 Corinthians 11 :3
"The Father is greater than I."
— John 14 :28

In divine essence, the Son fully reflects the Father's nature; yet in authority and origin, He proceeds from the Father.

Thus, we believe as Scripture declares: one God — the Father; one Lord — Jesus Christ; and one Spirit — the Spirit of God dwelling in those who believe.

Final Appeal — The Call of Christ

Beloved, this is not a call to abandon beauty or reverence — it is a call to know the truth that sets you free.

Tradition may have given you a form of godliness, but only Jesus gives life.

"If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in."
— Revelation 3 :20

Follow Him, not a system. Trust His Word, not human decrees.

He is your Shepherd, your Teacher, your Redeemer, and your King.

"You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
— John 8 :32

Seeking unity in Christ and His Word?

We'd love to explore what Scripture teaches about Jesus, the gospel, and following Him alone. Let's study God's Word together and seek truth in Christ.
