Recovering Unity in Christ — Beyond Denominations, Beyond Labels

Greeting

Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ,

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

We thank God for your zeal to honor the Scriptures and proclaim salvation by grace through faith. Yet even among those who love the Bible, the Lord calls us to a deeper unity — not in denominations or doctrines of men, but in Himself.

"There is one body and one Spirit… one Lord, one faith, one baptism."
— Ephesians 4 :4–5

Let every heart return to the simplicity of devotion to Christ, who alone is our Head and Shepherd.

Christ Above All

Christ did not build denominations; He built a people redeemed by His blood.

No movement, name, or church system can claim ownership of Him.

He is the Cornerstone, and all who believe are living stones in one spiritual house.

"You are all one in Christ Jesus."
— Galatians 3 :28

Let not "Baptist," "Methodist," "Lutheran," or "Evangelical" divide what He died to unite.

"Is Christ divided?"
— 1 Corinthians 1 :13

Action: Do not cling to any tradition or name, but hold fast to Christ and His Word.

"Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord."
— 1 Corinthians 1 :31

The Word Above All

The Reformation rightly restored confidence in the Word of God — Sola Scriptura — yet many now follow creeds, conferences, and celebrity pastors more than Scripture itself.

The Word of God alone is perfect, sufficient, and living.

"All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable… that the man of God may be complete."
— 2 Timothy 3 :16–17
"Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away."
— Matthew 24 :35

Action: Return to the plain words of Christ and His apostles.

Test every sermon, every system, and every tradition by the Scriptures alone.

Faith That Works Through Love

Doctrine without love becomes a weapon.

Faith without obedience becomes hypocrisy.

True discipleship is not measured by correct theology alone but by a life shaped by the Spirit.

"Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up."
— 1 Corinthians 8 :1
"The only thing that counts is faith working through love."
— Galatians 5 :6

Action: Preach grace — but live truth.

Confess Christ — but reflect Him in humility, mercy, and service.

The Gospel — Not a Brand

The gospel is not a denominational statement; it is the announcement of the crucified and risen Lord.

Jesus did not call us to make converts to a label, but disciples to Himself.

"Go and make disciples of all nations."
— Matthew 28 :19

Salvation is not secured by church membership, altar calls, or theological correctness — but by faith in the living Son of God, who transforms hearts.

"If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation."
— 2 Corinthians 5 :17

Action: Let every sermon, song, and service point to Christ, not to a brand.

Only one name saves — Jesus Christ.

"There is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved."
— Acts 4 :12

The Church — A Living Body

The Church is not a corporation, building, or brand.

It is a living body, joined to Christ the Head.

If programs replace prayer, or if the Spirit's voice is muted by tradition, it is time to return to the simplicity of following Him.

"My house will be called a house of prayer."
— Matthew 21 :13
"Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."
— 2 Corinthians 3 :17

Action: Live as members of His body—devoted to prayer, walking in holiness, and building one another up in love.

"You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house."
— 1 Peter 2 :5

Unity in the Spirit

Many who love the gospel have become divided by movements, denominations, and church names.

But Christ did not build fragments — He built one body, joined by one Spirit and one truth.

When loyalty to a system replaces loyalty to the Savior, the Spirit's unity is broken.

"There is one body and one Spirit… one Lord, one faith, one baptism."
— Ephesians 4 :4–5

We are called to preserve the unity of the Spirit, not by forming new alliances or councils, but by returning to humility, repentance, and love.

"Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace."
— Ephesians 4 :3

Action: Lay aside denominational pride and personal glory.

Stand together under the name of Christ alone, letting His Word—not traditions, statements, or systems—be our bond.

"By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
— John 13 :35

True unity is not built by labels, but by hearts surrendered to the same Lord and Spirit.

The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit

"Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God, the Lord is one."
— Deuteronomy 6 :4

The testimony of Scripture reveals one true God — the Father, the source and origin of all things.

Through Him and from Him are all things, and for His glory they exist.

"For us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we live."
— 1 Corinthians 8 :6

The Son, Jesus Christ, came forth from the Father.

The Father alone is unbegotten and without origin; the Son has His origin in the Father, sharing His divine nature and purpose.

All things were made through the Son and for Him, and nothing came into being apart from Him.

"For in Him all things were created… all things have been created through Him and for Him."
— Colossians 1 :16–17
"All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made."
— John 1 :3

Before time began, the Word was with God, and the Word was divine in nature — sharing the glory and essence of the Father. — John 1 :1–3

He is the only begotten (monogenēs) Son — the one who came from the Father to reveal Him perfectly.

"No one has ever seen God; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has made Him known."
— John 1 :18

Scripture does not explain how the Son was begotten, only that He came uniquely from God.

Angels may be called "sons of God," yet only Christ is begotten of God and shares His divine nature.

"One day the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord."
— Job 1 :6
"For to which of the angels did God ever say, 'You are My Son; today I have begotten You'?"
— Hebrews 1 :5

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God — proceeding from the Father through the Son — sent to dwell within believers, to teach, to give life, and to glorify Christ.

"The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things."
— John 14 :26
"When the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father… He will testify about Me."
— John 15 :26
"When He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth."
— John 16 :13

We must remain within the bounds of what Scripture declares and not venture into human theories.

Nowhere does the Bible teach that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are co-equal persons in rank.

The Father is greater in position — the source and head of Christ — while the Son is one with the Father in will, essence, and divine purpose.

"The head of Christ is God."
— 1 Corinthians 11 :3
"The Father is greater than I."
— John 14 :28

In divine essence, the Son mirrors the Father perfectly; yet in authority and origin, He proceeds from Him.

Thus we affirm, as the Scriptures clearly state:

one God — the Father;

one Lord — Jesus Christ;

and one Spirit — the Spirit of God living in all who believe.

Final Appeal — Christ Our Head

Beloved, this is not a call to abandon your fellowship, but to exalt Jesus above every name and system.

He alone is Lord, the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Let us no longer divide the Body for the sake of human labels.

"My sheep hear My voice; I know them, and they follow Me."
— John 10 :27

Follow Him — not a movement.

Obey His Word — not men's traditions.

Be filled with His Spirit, and walk in the love that fulfills the law.

"To Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever."
— Ephesians 3 :21

Want to study Scripture and follow Christ alone?

We'd love to explore God's Word together, seeking truth in Scripture alone. Let's examine what the Bible teaches about Jesus and the gospel, with Christ as our only Head.
